1) Introduction
This department was established to study and practice oriental martial arts which have a cultural and educational value and systemize traditional mind and body training and ways of maintaining health. The department with teaching faculty from various fields such as oriental medicine, sports anthropology, oriental martial arts, and sports science in addition to martial arts aims to be the center for oriental martial arts by producing qualified elites with theories, practical skills, and practical business affairs. The department aims to contribute to the development of oriental martial arts by producing elites with practical skills of oriental martial arts (hapkido, wushu, fencing, kukseol, kicking and tripping art, 18 martial arts) and theories as well. It also aims to contribute to the modernization and globalization of oriental martial arts by training students with not only theories of oriental martial arts but also theories of sports science, and the ability to apply computer skills and to speak foreign languages.

2) Characteristics
- The department trains basic literacy culture about oriental culture, oriental studies, and somatology.
- The department trains the ability to appreciate the value of traditional practices and apply them as alternative medicine.
- The department trains the basic theories and skills of traditional martial arts and practices.
